Ohio Visit

We were finally able to visit Kristy's parents in Ohio. With all the snow this winter up there, it had been difficult to schedule.

We were able to visit Grandma Ames and the Ames family for a day as well as spend some time with Kristy's family (mom, dad, sister, & nieces).

The trip went well, Kelsey traveled pretty well again. It was super cold, though (-5 windchill) for most of the weekend.

We hope to visit again in the spring/summer.

the real world

Well, the honeymoon is over. Don't let the smile fool you, this one is a monster!
Kristy started back to work last week, so now the mission has become "find sleep ASAP". Everything is going well, but Kelsey has decided she wants nothing to do with eating from a bottle. Not a problem, if I had boobs, but...
She is getting a little better, but still would rather scream several times a night than eat from the bottle. I am sure she will come around-=--eventually. Wish us luck!

Growing baby

Kelsey is growing like crazy! She is now 2 months old and over 10 lbs. She is starting to enjoy the baby swing and playing on her play mat (although both require a nap to recover).
She will make her first long car trip this weekend. We are both holding our breathe that she travels as well as Kyle did at that age.

Snow Day!

Ahh, a taste of home!! It has been several years since we had any "real" snow around here. I think we had 2-3 inches 5 years ago and 22 inches in 2000. A weird storm hit us last night and this morning bring Durham 3 inches and Raleigh about 4-5 inches. As usual, EVERYTHING shutdown!!??
I tested my 4wd by driving to my office to do 3-4 hours of work before returning home and playing with Kyle, who's school was closed. It was his FIRST SNOW and he enjoyed every minute of it.
We plan to visit WV this weekend, so maybe we will find snow for him again!?

It has been an eventful December for us. Kelsey is still growing super fast and Kyle, well, he is Kyle.
Christmas brought lots of toys and visitors. Kyle was pleased to add to his tool collection with tools from Home Depot and a Craftsman work bench. He also got a cool policeman uniform that he "arrests" the bad boys in.

Ready for Santa

Everything is getting back to normal (somewhat) after Kelsey's arrival. Kyle is ready for Santa to arrive. He can spot Santa "anywhere"--on cards, billboards, books, in store windows!!

He got to see Santa at the Santa Train over at the museum a few weeks ago (postponed due to tornadoes!!). He asked Santa for a guitar and a police car. I think Santa can probably handle that.

I will add a few more pics of the Santa Train and our post Christmas "mess" soon.

Christmas Tree Trip

I know, strange pics for finding a Christmas tree. Well, we started going to a local fire station near Chapel Hill a few years ago. There are very few places to "cut" your own tree around here unless you head to the mountains. So, you are left to hit tree lots with pre-cut trees delivered daily.

This lot is at a small "country" fire station. The firemen are super nice to Kyle. They always help with the tree and then start playing with the kids. Kyle gets to sit in the trucks, turn on the lights and sirens, and climb all over! Really, he could care less that we are also there to buy a tree. As you can see in the pic, they also give the kids a fireman hat and a small coloring book. Kind of a neat little "tradition" we have started I guess.

We still always talk of going to the mountains near Ashville with another family for the weekend and cut trees while we are there.... maybe when the kids are older??
